Why WAX?

WAX was built with today's collector in mind. Between stringent requirements, high premiums, and a ton of paperwork, buying insurance just isn't an easy experience. WAX makes insurance easy and simple. A picture of your collectibles is really all you need to be able to protect the things you care about.

How much does collectible insurance cost with WAX?

WAX works with the biggest insurance companies in the world to find our collectors the best possible price on their insurance policy. You can expect our prices to be competitive with any other provider in the market, and over time, we expect our data to help bring the cost of premiums down.

What types of collections does WAX cover?

Just about anything that can be collected can be covered under our insurance program, including but not limited to fine art, sports memorabilia, wine, silverware, comic books, watches, sneakers, musical instruments, stamps, etc. A comprehensive list can be found in our app on both the iOS and Android app stores.

How hard is it to get my items insured?

We strive to democratize insurance and make it available to everyone regardless of where they live, and whether they rent or own their primary residence. That said, there are certain risk parameters that we need to work within. One thing we can always guarantee you - there won't be an easier place to get insured than through the WAX mobile app. All you have to do is take a picture of your item, we appraise it on our end, and get you a premium quote within hours.

Why do I need this specialty insurance and not just my homeowner’s or renter’s policy?

If you think your collectibles are covered by an existing policy, read it thoroughly and evaluate whether or not you’re comfortable with that level of coverage. Standard homeowner’s policies often provide limited fine art and collectibles protection and frequently exclude accidental breakage.

What features and benefits does your program offer?

-Coverage for collections up to $1,000,000 (higher limits available)

-$0 deductible option

-No appraisal required at application

-Easy mobile app to quote and bind policies

-A.M. Best "A" rated carrier

-Program currently available in the United States and soon worldwide

How do I determine the declared value of my collection?

Declared Value is the current fair market value of your collection. It is the price that you would need to pay in order to replace it. A good way to determine declared value is to look at recent auction prices or secondary market transactions. This could be higher or lower than the retail price or the price you paid, and that's totally fine. What's most important is that you're insuring your collection for what it would cost you to replace it.

Do I need separate policies for multiple types of collections?

Nope. Multiple types of collections may be covered under a single policy.

Why do you need to know all the locations where my collection is kept?

Your premium may vary from location to location. Having a list of the collection items at each location will ensure that you are receiving the most competitive rates available.

What are the location and security requirements for coverage eligibility?

Collections that are stored or displayed in the collector's home, apartment, condominium or self-storage facility are eligible for coverage. Your premium may vary based on the type of location, but we can cover you no matter where you are. Obviously having a security system and safe will help lower your premiums as well.

Where should I keep my collection documentation?

The WAX app allows you to store digital copies of your collection documentation in a secure digital archive. Nevertheless, we still advise policyholders to keep multiple copies of their collection documentation such as a hard copy kept in a fireproof safe and an electronic copy that can be accessed from any computer. Policyholders are also encouraged to keep a copy in a secure, secondary location such as a safe deposit box.

How do I determine if my location is in a designated Flood Zone as identified by the National Flood Insurance Program?

What is a loss or claim?

A claim is a loss reported to your insurance company. A loss is damage to your collection whether reported or not. If you have a loss, regardless of whether you plan to file a claim or not, it is best to let us know as soon as possible.

I value my privacy. What do you do with my private information?

We keep all personal information private and will not sell it to other companies, advertisers, mailing lists, telemarketing companies or third parties.

All data is stored securely in our database, and encrypted.

Your phone number is requested to ensure that we have your complete contact information. Your phone number will be used if we need to speak to you directly to process your quote or provide information concerning a policy you purchase.

We require your e-mail address in order to send you a summary of your quote in the event your application needs to be reviewed. You policy or any future endorsements to the policy will be sent to you in the WAX app. For more information regarding the use of your phone number and e-mail address, please review our  Privacy Policy.

How can I view my documents online?

We will always email you PDF copies of your policy documents, and in the future, all policy information will also be available to view via the WAX mobile app.

What types of losses are covered?

The collectibles insurance provides an all-risk policy to cover collectible items that are potentially vulnerable to losses. Some of the important collectible type causes of loss covered as part of our policy are listed below. Additional coverages are included for specific collectible classes. Please review your policy for more information on coverages, conditions and exclusions.

-Accidental breakage

-Fire

-Lightning

-Water damage

-Mysterious Disappearance

-Loss in transit

-Burglary

What is mysterious disappearance?

Mysterious disappearance is when you can’t pinpoint when or where the item went missing. For example, you come home and discover your painting is gone. It can happen while you’re away at work or on vacation, and, with us, you’re covered.

What will the insurance company require from me in the event of a loss?

If you need to file a claim, you will be required to provide the insurance company with documentation supporting the value of the item that has been damaged. Most of this will be found within the WAX app if you've uploaded the relevant pictures and documents during the process of adding your collection in. Acceptable documentation includes:

Appraisals

Purchase invoices or receipts

An inventory list with a detailed description of the item and value

A loan agreement documenting value

Photos

Videos

What is a deductible?

The deductible is the amount of money that you agree to have deducted from the total of your covered loss. The higher your deductible amount, the lower your premium cost.

How do I file a claim?

To provide the best service for our customers, collectibles claims will be handled directly by our insurance carrier. However, you can kick off the process of filing a claim via the WAX app in order to streamline the process.

How do I get a quote?

Getting a quote is easy. Just download the WAX Insurance app on the iOS or Google Play app stores, add your collectibles in, and request a quote. We will then get you a personalized quote that meets your needs.

What information do I need to have on hand to request a quote?

In order to get a quick quote, you will need to be able to take pictures of your collectibles and have their declared value. For a more detailed quote, we will need information about where the items are stored, prior insurance and loss history, etc. Don't worry though, we'll make this whole process as delightful as possible for you.
